Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology IPT

The Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology (IPT) in Aachen has extensive experience in developing and implementing of innovativ solution concepts for adaptive and networked production. In the business area of "Life Sciences Engineering" (www.ipt.fraunhofer.de/LSE) research and development projects in the field of automation of complex biological processes are dealt with. The EU project AUTOSTEM (www.autostem2020.eu) represents a current project example, in which the Fraunhofer IPT is involved in developing an automized production platform for GMP- compliant reproduction of mesenchymal stem cells. Apart from the development of automization concepts for cell culture processes the emphasis is on building and integrating measuring systems for the continuous quality control of the cell products. Recent research in the field of microscopy enable a high- content and high- throughout imaging and this way a detailed quality assurance for the cell products. Furthermore there are comprehensive competences in project and risk management in development projects.
